The Race For President

You agree to come back for tomorrow's show, and Gellman assures you that you will get on right away.

Gellman is definitely a man of his word, for ten minutes into the show, you are introduced as the first guest. The fresh, laid-back atmosphere of the show makes you feel right at home. Regis and Kathie Lee both are extremely friendly to you, and through the studio lights, the audience looks likes one big happy bowl of Fruity Pebbles. You are definitely relaxed as you are asked some questions by the perky duo about Bob Dole's final moments. However you are so relaxed, that when you talk about your conversation with Dole, you lose sight of the truth. You starting going off on this melodramatic story about how Bob Dole told you that he felt like the end was near, and crap like he wasn't afraid to die because he knew his spirit would be kept alive by such proud Americans and faithful public servants like yourself. Finally, you end your story by saying how the words Bob Dole spoke to you before he died have inspired you to decide to run for president, and keep his spirit alive forever.

You look around the studio, and notice that there is not a dry eye in the place. You moved them to tears. When you go home, your phone rings off the hook. Everybody you talk to says how moving your story on `Regis and Kathie Lee' was. One of the callers is Texas billionaire Ross Perot. He wants you to run as the presidential candidate for his independent party, having former New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley as your running mate. However you also get a call from the Republican party chairman. He invites you to speak at the convention, where you also will be on the ballot for the nomination of the party's presidential candidate. You decide that you definitely better sleep before you make this decision.
